The CO2MET project, titled "New generation of multigas sensors for monitoring explosive atmospheres," subsidized through the INNOTEC grants promoted by ACCIO, the Agency for Business Competitiveness of the Government of Catalonia, began in this year. It is developed in collaboration between RAE Spain and CD6 UPC.
The main objective of this project is to provide the market with a new industrial safety product for monitoring the risk of flammability and explosion in explosive atmospheres (ATEX). A pioneering non-dispersive infrared technology (NDIR) sensor will be offered, capable of simultaneously detecting two gases, hydrocarbons, and carbon dioxide, currently detected with two different sensors. This project will be to achieve an optimal distribution of optical components to maximize the light/gas interaction, obtain a robust encapsulation with low manufacturing cost, and manufacture low-power, high-selectivity optical filters and emitters.
This project is developed with the support of ACCIÓ, the Catalan agency for competitiveness, with reference ACE014/20/000034.
